Baby Nathan
Baby Nathan was born to the family on the 24th April 2006 @ 1131p.m. @ Mt Alvernia Hospital, Singapore. He weighed 2510grams and measured 49cm at birth. He is a 34th week baby, a premie, who spent 7 nights at the ICU before he returned home on May 1st.
Nathan @5 months
Nathan boy is growing from strength to strength. These are his records at 5 months doc's visit:Weight: 7.8kgHead circumference: 44 cmLength: 66cmHis weight is looking good, head hasn't grown much larger, well thankfully, else he wouldn't be able to put on many nice t-shirts. And yes, when i carry him, his legs are dangling below my waist. A heavier boy means more strenuous for mommie! My backs and arms are 'suffering' as a result of prolonged hours of coaxing him to sleep. Jog and swim once a week hasn't helped much I supposed. But, like the doc said, he's only baby once, when he starts crawling and running, we might have to grab him in our arms.Babies do grow really fast. Looking at him, month by month passes, and his features are fast changing too, more defined, and better looking. Many by standers often commented that he looks really alert, eyes wide opened and scouting and surveying wherever. Still hasn't managed to get him happy in his pram. Probably he knows he could see much more being carried upright. This boy.New habits: pinching his own ears, rubbing cheeks, slapping his thighs and playing with his toes, basically, self exploring ... cute, more smiley and making more noises.Generally, getting more fun by the day. I almost feel quite contented gazing at him on his cot all day.
Home with mom
Chong's in Hk for work for 3 days 2 nights. I can't remember the last night I had to spend the night alone without him by my side. And it was alittle weird with my mom sleeping beside me. The whole night I was tossing and turning, just not used to it, the smell, sounds that came from her etc. Well, I do have to appreciate her being here with me to spend the night, but I was just wondering if i could have slept better without her around. She can't seem to handle Nathan anyway. When boy cries, he wants only mummy. Guess, like Chong says, he feels safer with another person to accompany me, and to chat with me, rather than me alone with baby. But, you know, after marrying out for 4 years plus, you want nobody else but your husband to be by your side, not even your own mom, yup.
Hair hair everywhere!!
The three of us have been shedding hair together...At 4 months, nathan's dropping his baby hair. We have yet shaved him bald, he still got some new born hair and more growing by the month. Hair's found on his pillow, bed sheet and bath tub ... and on me too. And for me, yes, hormonal changes, I'm dropping lotsa of hair too, sob sob, wonder when this ll stop. And I'm also trying to have longer hair, persevere till christmas !!We bought an electroni hair razor from tangs, Braun, for Nathan. Thought it would be fun to trim his hair every now and then, save costs and quite enjoyable too. He doesn't seem to mind the sound that comes from it, but hardly sits still for you to have his hair cut.
A good long weekend
Nothing quite new about the boy.Friday, Chong took the afternoon off and we had lunch at merchant court market cafe. We actually met Edwin Lee there, apparently, he had a meeting that same afternoon. They're expecting a girl in Nov. Then, the three of us had a nice stroll at Clarke Quay, somewhere we hadn't been for a long time. The weather was near perfect, slight drizzle and cool. How the place has changed. Chong wanted to look for his Isrida tie shop, but was no longer there. The shops look chic and trendy. We should try go down again someday to have lunch. Night time is not conducive for families. Nathan slept through the entire walk in the pram, so we had an undisturbed time together. The next day, Sat, after lunch at granny, we head down to West Coast park. The place has changed quite a bit, the sea area was all fenced up, probably some upgrading project. We had cakes and coffee at Mac Cafe.Dinner at Serangoon market. Satay, fried dumplings, roti john and sugar cane drink, a good variety of unhealthy but chiok food. We explored a new eating place which claims to serve Australia fresh fish at Mad Jack Cafe down Bt Timah rd. The fish was good, tender on the itself and crispy on the outside. Service and environment was friendly for families too. Next, shopping at Sheng Siong! The goods there are really cheap, much better pricing compared to even NTUC. We always head for the cereals and diapers there. Chong got his sensor excel blades for half the price. Nathan was fussing alot during the shopping trip, so we couldn't stay longer. What surprised me about this weekend was we managed to accomplish alot of tasks. Besides our weekly jogs, swim and housework, we even had time to nap and patronize parks. I thought it would be so nice if dads are given 4.5 day work week once a month to have family time together. If the govt were to be more proactive in this area, many more babies could have been born, perhaps? Many people think babies are troublesome. But with good days as such, babies aren't really the deciding factor yet. We did go places we wanted to, with or without the babe. And Nathan has acdded so much fun and laughter to our lives, needless to say. Granny was playing with him while we had dinner. She had so much fun too. She laughed more than the baby did, in fact. Of course, when Nathan starts crying, no one wants him, not even the dad or mom sometimes. All stay away. On good hours, everyone surrounds the adorable creature.
Nathan@4.5months
My dear little boy is shedding his baby hair these days. Tiny short fine hair drops all over his pillow and bed sheet. Each time I bring him up from his bed, i would find hair on his face, wonder how many strands of hair actually got swallowed down ??Great news! Nathan has finally learnt to sleep through the night. Four nights in a row so far, he knocks out by 11.30p.m. and only wakes about 6.50 or 7.00a.m. This is wonderful news indeed, at least mommie gets a full rest and be all power up for the next day's challenge. Hope this new good habit continues, you know, babies change habits rather frequently...He vomits much less too and increased his intake of milk. Each night, daddie would bottle feed him about 100ml before he sleeps. And yes, he is drinking from the bottle too, phew, pigeon works! This is really helpful, gives me time off from the baby.Motor skills, he is still very active, think he'll continue so, he's a boy, isn't it, kicks and pulls. Latest hobby, pulling mom's hair, so i always get it tighted up. His grip is strong. boy.I'm wondering when i can start solids with him, should be another fun activity!!
