A Very Wrong day

You could say, a day when everything went wrong ...

Nathan woke up several times at night, and that didn't help start mom and dad's day right. We were both very tired from his crying overnight.

Then he woke up really early, not his usual 9.30a.m. morning. Tried feeding him pumkin with avocado, he spat all out. Changed, wiped and washed up. He puked all over me. The most disgusting incident happened again, yes, he pooed. With the introduction of solids, his poo is far more smelly, and more adult-liked, if you know what I mean. Stained the bed, matress protector again, and spent a good amount of time in the toilet cleaning up the dirty little boy, so helpless, wailing on his change table, waiting for mom to make him clean, again.

Our house seems to be spoiling too, the light bulb burst, the curtains fell apart, and a few more bulbs burst due to wear and tear over time, 5 yrs a good long time, isn't it?

Third week on slids not so good. So far, he's been taking cereals with bm, then sweet potatoes, and pumpkin too, doesn't quite like avocado or porridge, both of which very nutritious for him, with teething pain, it's going to be even more difficult to feed him in weeks to come.

First Solid meal

I started feeding him organic brown rice cereal on 15th October. For my first preparation, it wasn't too good. I added in hot water first before bmilk, then the solution turned out too watery and seedy. He drank it all down anyway. The second day I fed him, he seemed more pleased with a smoother and creamy texture. The cereals smelt good, even I thought it tasted good, no wonder boy boy likes him so. After so much readings on feeding solids, I thought it would be a difficult battle, but it all looked good thus far, as of today, his 4th meal, no allegic reaction and he poos fine, no constipation, hmm, all ready to start a new food, what should it be this time? Avocado? Book says they're good for brain development, or should I go veggies first? Else everything is sweet for him and he might reject blend veggies next time.

Think Nathan is starting to teeth. He seems more irritable too, last night, he cried so bad when granny was around, frightened her off. And when she left, he was fine ... hmm, this boy. I hope he teeths soon, so that he'll feel more comfortable.

Since I started him on solids, he's been sleeping well during the day too. Two good 1.2 hrs nap each in the day. Maybe its the air conditioning that works, but it also mean I couldn't use the pc while he's asleep, cos he would be sleeping in the room. Today, I placed him back on his bed in the other room without the air con, so that I can blog, else I would feel constipated, not being able to let my thoughts flow.

Weekend at Sentosa

It was our very first weekend trip away from home. Kinda of felt 'funny', cos we're still 'home' - Singapore, juz across a small expanse of sea and there we were, on the other side of the island.

We stayed 2 nights at Rasa Sentosa. A very crowded weekend, with bus loads of korean tourists. They look fairly different from the stars on TV series, most of them had small eyes, and not as stunning as those on screens, at all.

I always grade a hotel based on its breakfast spread, here, quite satifactory, got my sausages, cheese, yougurt and muselie. But Chong would only be truly happy with hot fresh made omelette, which they do not serve here. They only had sunny side up ones.

Mum and brother came over on Saturday morning, wanted to catch Nathan swimming for his very first time. But none of them was changed, only mum and boy played in the water together, while the rest stood by, laughed and took videos and photos. We bought a dougnut float for him, far too big for his size, and he couldn't see the water when he was inside the float. So I took him out instead and let him sit on my lap, he was engrossed with his surroundings, gave a look that says ' what a huge bath tub...' I supposed. He looked really cute in his swim wear, hope to bring him again. Think he'll enjoy himself more when he gets more independent.

It was a good trip, except for the haze. It hit more than a 100 on the Sunday we checked out. We had to go to church anyway, and didn't spend much time outdoors. Shopping at Vivo City, the newest and largest shopping mall at World trade centre. Many shops were not open yet, and there was renovation works everywhere. Quite unpleasant. My poor darling was hungry and I couldn't even find a place to sit down to nurse him. There were just too many people everywhere, even on a friday afternoon. Where did all these people come from?? Everyone's on half day leave??

Still, the highlight was seeing Nathan get dressed for swim, which was only a 15mins deep in the water. And we managed to take some family shots, thanks to my mom, by the beach. Come to think of it, those were our very first family shots since the last one at ICU in the hospital.

A very disgusting encounter

A Good Monday morning greeting from Nathan...

As usual, he's been waking up at 9.00-9.30a.m. each morning, with the exception on Sundays, when we had to rouse him up for church service at 8.00a.m.

He finished his feed and got himself prepared for poo business. I was stained many times before, but that was by far the worst, cos 'IT' completely leaked out !! Poo found everywhere ... my PJ pants, bed sheets, soaked through the matress protector and stained our good old 5 yr old matress! Disaster disaster. I hurriedly put him down on the changing table and began my thorough cleaning up. Dumped everything in the wash, and aired the matress.

There was quite alot of poo.

It is a good habit though, that Nathan has developed himself, to do his big poo each morning, so that for the rest of the day, there would be either alittle left, or none at all, makes it a cleaner day, and for the future toilet training, it would be more predictable too.

babies babies, can't they be less messy?? But its also the messiness that makes them so adorable, to him, he was probably wondering why mummy was making such a big fuss over his poo. He looked really relieved with all that mustard stuff out from his system, lying on the table contentedly, waiting for his morning warm wipe and change.

A clean baby is a huggable baby.

New play things

We have opened out new play things for Nat. One is the play pen from Chong's sister. A colourful garden theme play pen with bumble bee, lady bird, drangonfly and moth hanging down from above. She vouched for it esp for stay home alone moms, great for keeping tods in once they start walking, free me for toliet breaks etc. Started it now to get Nat used to the idea of being fenced up, we'll see if it really works, so far so good, he seems entertained by the toys and colourful designs.

Nat was great yesterday, can't remember the last time he didn't fuss during our meal time. He was busy pooing while mom and dad had a meaningful discussion over dinner. Think its good for him to watch us converse, he seems attentive and inqusitive, wanting to participate, what you guys talking about??

These days, he wouldn't cry when he wakes up, sometimes, he just makes alot of noises, trying to talk I guess. Crawling when he lies on his tummy too, hardly stationery, and likes to look around, absorbing his surroundings... wonder what happens when he starts crawling, would I ve a hard time chasing him??

He's a good boy now, only fusses for milk and when he's sleepy, think he's teething too, salivates quite a bit and gums everything his hands bring forward, not even sparing mom and dad's fingers and shirts.

Managed to flip over sponteneously a few times, but often into a state of shock, still not realising he could do that. And when we talk, he's listening, we could tell, better start watching how we converse with each other, don't want him to pick up anything negative at all ... hey hey hey.

It'll be fun once i start solids with him @ 6 months, stil enjoy the luxury of not having extra loads when we go out, just mommie's supply could suffice his appetite.
