Cold

Six good months of a healthy boy, and finally he fell sick, thanks to daddy who brought the sneezy bugs back from office. So, poor boy's been sneezing, and having runny and block nose for 5 days already. But the thing is, he's pretty cool about it, not complaining or crying more than usual, just had feeding problem, cos when he suckle, he can't breathe, right, so sometimes he would scream in impatience. But other than that, he sleeps and wakes the same. So no doc yet, save the bucks for the moment.

Nathan's laughing more these days spontaneously. Most of the time with dad around, so he didn't miss it at all, how fortunate. Once at NTUC, he was so tickled by a toy he saw hanging down and started laughing a few times, we stood admiring him for some minutes before he noticed our stares ... And one night before bed time, he farted and started laughing at his own sound ... how adorable. We managed to took a short video of him, so nice. These are indeed the precious moments.

This wk end, Chong's at yf camp, but I managed to persuade him to return every night. We have been visiting at nights too, good to have Nathane exposed to different people of various age groups, get him acquainted, rather than facing just mommie whole day long.

He is a cute little boy.

Nathan@7 months

Yes, Nathan boy is already 7 months old! but strictly speaking, according to gestation, he's only 5.5 mths, Chong reminded me, he's not that little baby anymore, he's a good 9kg boy now, 67cm in length. He hasn't grown much length wise, has he?

Monday ago, he had such hoarse voice, decided to pay the pd a visit, but after much checks, foound out that he has probably sreamed too much over the wk end, plus we were trying to train him to sleep through the night, so had left him to cry for some minutes, but his strong boy of ours, doesn't just wail like other babies, he practically screamed his lungs out, till today, he still has got that horsie throat.

Taking food well, even rather tastless veg, but sleep pattersn are mixed up, mummie's got no perseverence to train him day time, let him nurse as he likes and naps when he seems wanting to.

He can sit unsupported well now, can't crawl yet, rolling over brilliant too.

Foods ...

Been reading up Ruth Yaron and another bk borrowed from the library about baby food, the different types to offer them at each stage of growth, what to look out for while buying them, and its storing and cooking methods, plus, lots of stuff about nutrition. If I had a second career, it must be food related, I have since become more interested, and I thought these information's really useful, even while preparing adult food! Like washing the veg drain the nutrients away, eating brown rice has multiple benefits and steaming is always preferred to boiling less frying.

Latest introduction of food is carrot. He doesn't seem to like the taste very much although I have specifically bought the sweeter baby carrots, maybe becos I've mixed the millets in, taste more blend. He enjoys all fruits, like avocado, banana, papaya. He esp love banana cereal, has it for breakfast almost every morning. He can eat as much as 5 table spoons of it, and never seem tired or full. But some moms have commented that bananas are real cause for constipation. Papayas saved the day last weekend when he constipated for 4 long days, and finally on the fifth day, he pooed 4 times!

I worry for him whenever his bowels's not smooth, cos Chong n I are particularly regular with our bowels. We make an effort and a habit to release every day, get rid of the toxin in our system is certainly better health.

Water should do the trick, but little boy hates water as if drinking down medicine. Not sure if it looks like his med first three months when he had reflux. Hopefully he gets better taste of it soon. Haven't tried juices yet, since i'm quite sure he will have no problem gulping that beverage down in no time. Any sweet is tasty, yes, like mommie, sweet tooth.

Going try more veg for him, like green beans and aspargus, even prepared brocoli, but save that later in case it causes wind in his tummy.

Been fun checking out foods, and feeding him is always enjoyable. Seeing him open wide his mouth to take each spoonful of nutritious food makes my heart very glad. And he is growing well, hit 9kg last night when daddie weighed him, but fairly inaccurate, plus and minu 1,2kg.

Thank God for everything.

Nathan@6.5mths

Time really flies, and my little boy has since grown from birth weight 2.5kg more than 6 months ago, to a good 8.7kg!! This also means more demands on my arm and back muscles, God help!

He is able to toss and turn quite well, flipping over from front to back and vice versa. Sitting up supported, else he would roll over from side to side, rather cute. Perhaps he's a roly poly, that's why he's not very active yet, can't wait to see him start crawling on fours, must be quite a sight too.

Been on a cereal, porridge, sweet potatoe, pumpkin, avocado and banana diet past week. Just tried him on papaya today, followed by more greens like brocoli, peas and apple juice. Last week, he was constipated for 4 days, resulted from not drinking enough water, starting on solids, breast milk wouldn't be enough to help him digest the food. Hopefully, with more greens, it'll help. So we got ourselves a juicer, to make fresh fruit juice for the family, towards a healthier life style, dad's got high cholestrol, you see.

Sleeping about 4-6 hours during the daytime, unfortunately, still not sleeping through the night, wakes at least once. Last night, horror of horrors, woke up at 4.30a.m. and refused to go back to sleep. Dad took turn to rock him for an hour, and finally decided to let him cry for a good 10mins before he fell back to snoozing land.

It's been fun at moms n babes fellowship every thursday afternoon, made some new mommie friends, like Sharon, she's chatty and friendly, got two lovely boys. Nathan's not very participative yet, and immobile, so can't make any friends, but older kids do crowd around him to hug and kiss him sometimes.
